Our Debt Recovery Services Dubai
We handle all types of debt recovery in Dubai courts and through legal enforcement. Every debt case gets a named lawyer from day one.
Unpaid Invoice Recovery
Recovering outstanding invoices from clients, customers and business partners who have not paid. We send legal demand letters and take court action if they ignore them.
UAE Specific
UAE courts allow a fast-track Payment Order process for clear unpaid invoices. You can get a court judgment without a full trial in many cases.
Bounced Cheque Collection
Taking legal action against individuals and businesses that issued cheques which were returned unpaid. A bounced cheque in the UAE can lead to criminal as well as civil action.
UAE Specific
A bounced cheque is still both a civil and criminal matter in the UAE. This gives creditors two routes to recover the money.
Business and Commercial Debt Recovery
Recovering business debts from companies, contractors and suppliers who owe money under contracts, service agreements or purchase orders.
UAE Specific
Business debt recovery in Dubai can include applying for travel bans and bank freezes against company directors. These tools can speed up payment significantly.
Personal Loan and Salary Debt Recovery
Recovering personal loans made to individuals, unpaid salaries owed to employees and private debts between individuals.
UAE Specific
Personal debt claims in Dubai must be filed within 3 years of the due date. Waiting too long can cost you the right to claim.
Rental and Property Debt Recovery
Recovering unpaid rent from tenants, outstanding service charges and amounts owed under property contracts or lease agreements.
UAE Specific
Rental debt disputes in Dubai go through the Rental Dispute Centre before court. We handle both routes.
Debt Enforcement and Judgment Execution
Enforcing court judgments against debtors who still refuse to pay after a court order. We apply for bank freezes, asset seizures and travel bans.
UAE Specific
Only UAE courts can authorize bank freezes, asset seizures and travel bans. A debt collection agency cannot do this. A law firm can.
Cross-Border Debt Recovery
Recovering debts from individuals or businesses based outside the UAE through international legal channels and UAE court judgment enforcement.
UAE Specific
UAE court judgments can be enforced in many countries through international treaties. Debtors who leave the UAE are not always safe from recovery.
Debt Settlement Negotiations
Negotiating structured payment plans and debt settlement agreements between creditors and debtors when full immediate payment is not possible.
UAE Specific
A written settlement agreement in the UAE is legally binding and can be registered with the court for enforcement if the debtor defaults again.
- For Expats & Internationals
If You Are an Expat or Business Owner Owed Money in Dubai
Chasing a debt in Dubai can feel frustrating and confusing. Many people do not know that the law is actually on their side. Here is what you need to know.

UAE law gives creditors strong tools to recover money. Courts can freeze bank accounts, seize assets and issue travel bans against debtors.

A legal demand letter from a law firm often gets results without going to court. Many debtors pay as soon as they receive a formal legal notice.

For clear debts with proper documentation, UAE courts offer a Payment Order process that can get you a judgment very quickly without a full trial.

The time limit to file a debt claim in the UAE is 3 years from the date payment was due. Do not wait too long.

Debtors who leave the UAE are not always out of reach. UAE judgments can be enforced internationally and some countries have treaties with the UAE.

- Know Your Rights
How Debt Collection Works in Dubai
Debt recovery in Dubai follows a clear process. Knowing what happens at each step helps you understand what to expect and how quickly you might get paid.
Dubai Debt Laws
Legal Demand Letter
We start by sending a formal legal demand letter to the debtor. This is often enough. Many debtors pay immediately when they receive a letter from a law firm. It shows them you are serious and that court action is next if they do not respond. The letter is sent in Arabic to make sure it carries full legal weight in UAE courts.
The language of the court is Arabic. You need a lawyer who is fully fluent and knows how the Dubai Personal Status Court operates, not someone learning it on your case.
Dubai Debt Laws
Court Action and Enforcement
If the debtor ignores the demand letter, we file the case in Dubai courts. For clear debts with good documentation, we apply for a Payment Order which is a fast-track process. If the debt is disputed, we file a full civil claim. Once we have a court judgment, we apply for enforcement tools including bank freezes, asset seizures and travel bans. These tools work. They get people to pay.

We Tell You Your Options
We assess your documents and tell you exactly what we can do. How strong is your case? What is the fastest route to payment? Is court action needed or will a legal letter do the job? Honest answers from day one.
We Send a Legal Demand Letter
We draft and send a formal legal demand letter to the debtor in Arabic. This is often the only step needed. Many debtors pay quickly when a law firm is involved.

- FAQs
Questions Our Debt Collection Team Gets Asked Every Day
These are real questions from business owners, freelancers, employers and individuals dealing with unpaid debts in Dubai.
Can I take someone to court in Dubai if they owe me money?
Yes. UAE law allows you to file a civil case against anyone who owes you money. You can also apply for a Payment Order if your debt is clear and supported by documents. The court can then order the person to pay. If they still do not pay, you can apply for enforcement including bank freezes and asset seizures.
Is there a time limit to collect a debt in Dubai?
Yes. The general time limit for most debts in Dubai is 3 years from the date payment was due. If you miss this window, you may lose your right to claim through the courts. Contact a debt collection lawyer as soon as possible to protect your claim.
What happens if the debtor leaves Dubai and goes back to their country?
A debtor who leaves Dubai is not always out of reach. UAE court judgments can sometimes be enforced in other countries. The UAE has treaties with several nations that allow this. Even without a treaty, some countries will still enforce UAE judgments. Contact us and we will tell you what options exist depending on which country the debtor went to.
Do I really need a lawyer for debt collection in Dubai or can a debt collection agency do it?
A debt collection agency in Dubai cannot get you a court judgment, cannot apply for a travel ban and cannot freeze bank accounts. Only a licensed law firm can do these things. If your debtor is cooperating and paying, an agency may be enough. If they are refusing to pay, you need a lawyer.
Can Dubai courts freeze the bank account of someone who owes me money?
Yes. Once you have a court judgment, you can apply to the Dubai Execution Court to freeze the debtor’s bank accounts. The court contacts the banks directly. The debtor cannot access the frozen funds until the debt is paid. This is one of the most effective enforcement tools available and it often leads to very fast payment.
A client gave me a bounced cheque in Dubai. What can I do?
A bounced cheque in the UAE gives you two options. You can file a criminal complaint because issuing a bounced cheque is still a criminal offence. You can also file a civil claim to recover the money. Having both options gives you significant leverage. Most debtors settle quickly when they see that criminal action is possible.
How long does debt recovery take in Dubai?
If a legal demand letter is enough, some debts are paid within days or weeks. If court action is needed, a Payment Order for a clear debt can be obtained in a few weeks. A full civil trial can take 6 months to a year. Enforcement after a judgment can take additional weeks depending on the debtor’s assets. We give you a realistic timeline at the first consultation.
