Contract Disputes
Litigating all types of contract disputes when one party has broken the terms of an agreement and direct negotiation has failed. We represent both claimants and defendants.

UAE Specific
Employment disputes in the UAE must go through the Ministry of Human Resources before reaching court. This step is mandatory and cannot be skipped.

If You Are an Expat or Business Owner Facing a Dispute in Dubai
Going to court in Dubai can feel overwhelming, especially if you are unfamiliar with the UAE legal system. Here is what you need to know before you take any action.

All court filings in Dubai must be in Arabic. If your documents are in another language, they must be officially translated. We handle all translations and filings on your behalf.

UAE courts have three levels. The Court of First Instance hears the case first. Either party can appeal to the Court of Appeal. The Court of Cassation is the final level and only deals with legal errors, not facts.

Most commercial and civil cases in Dubai must first attempt settlement at the Centre for Amicable Settlement of Disputes before going to court. We manage this step for you.

Court fees in Dubai are 7.5 percent of the claim value, capped at AED 30,000. This is paid at the time of filing. We advise on fee calculations before you commit.

Going to court is not always the fastest solution. In many cases, a strong legal letter or structured negotiation gets results faster and at lower cost. We tell you honestly which route is best for your situation.
- Your Situation
Are You Dealing with One of These?

You believe a court judgment against you was wrong and want to appeal

You have a dispute that is heading to DIAC or DIFC arbitration

How Litigation Works in Dubai
Litigation means taking a dispute to court or to a formal dispute resolution body. Here is a simple breakdown of how the process works in Dubai.
The Dubai Court System
Dubai has three court levels. The Court of First Instance is where most cases start. If you are not happy with the result, you can appeal to the Court of Appeal. The final level is the Court of Cassation, which only looks at legal questions, not the facts again. Most disputes are resolved at the first level. Simple debt cases now take around 2 to 4 months. Commercial cases typically take 8 to 14 months. Complex multi-party disputes can take 2 to 3 years.
The language of the court is Arabic. You need a lawyer who is fully fluent and knows how the Dubai Personal Status Court operates, not someone learning it on your case.
Court vs Arbitration
Some disputes are better resolved through arbitration rather than court. Arbitration through DIAC or DIFC-LCIA is private, often faster, and uses specialists who know your industry. Court proceedings are better when you need urgent orders like asset freezes or when the other party has no assets outside the UAE. Many commercial contracts already specify arbitration. We check your contract and advise you on which route gives you the best result.
Not sure whether your dispute should go to court or to arbitration? Tell us what happened and we will tell you the right route in the first conversation.
